Bethlehem, Pa - Juniata men's soccer battled to a hard-fought 0-0 draw on the road against Moravian on Saturday afternoon at John Makuvek Field, opening Landmark Conference play with a point in a tightly contested match.
The Eagles generated consistent offensive pressure throughout the match, finishing with seven total shots, including two on goal. Ahmad Sajad and Tre Henry each recorded a shot on target as Juniata looked to break through a strong Greyhound defense. Defender Ryan Angelone was active in the attacking third, leading the team with three shot attempts.
On the other end of the pitch, goalkeeper Maxwell Mattioni anchored a resilient defensive performance. The junior made two key saves to record his fourth clean sheet of the season, keeping Moravian off the board despite a second-half surge from the hosts. Juniata's back line withstood 10 corner kicks and seven shots from the Greyhounds to preserve the shutout.
The match grew chippy in the second half as both teams battled for control. Juniata was forced to finish the final minutes with 10 men after a late red card, but the Eagles stayed composed defensively to secure the draw.
With the result, Juniata moves to 5-2-3 overall and 0-0-1 in Landmark play. The Eagles will look to build on the conference point when they head to York (Pa). on September 30th.
