Shaffer and Woods Earn Landmark Titles at Indoor Championships

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Senior Angela Shaffer (Prospect, Pa./Slippery Rock) and junior Katrina Woods (Shirleysburg, Pa./Mount Union) walked away champions at the Landmark Conference Indoor Championships hosted by Susquehanna University.  Shaffer won both the 60m hurdles and took the women's high jump title, while Woods won the 5000m run. 

Juniata finished third overall, improving from a fourth place finish last year and came away with a total of five top three finishes.

Senior Caroline Morgan (Havertown, Pa./Haverford Township), sophomore Alyssa Cousins (Lemont, Pa./State College Area) and freshmen Shalen Perehinec (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area) and Jecenia Duran (Temple, Pa./Oley Valley) placed second in the women's distance medley relay with a time of 13:46.09.

Shaffer set a meet record by clearing 1.58m in the high jump.  She won the hurdles in 9.48 seconds.  Woods won the 5000m meters in 18:38.54 and placed second in the mile with a time of 5:13.92.

Sophomore Chelsey Beaver (Shamokin Dam, Pa./Selinsgrove) placed third in the shot put with a throw of 11.12m, a personal best.

In the 4x800m run, Cousins with fellow sophomores Emily Wolf (York, Pa./Central York) and Haley Schnieder (West Chester, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) and Duran placed third with a time of 10:54.81.
