HUNTINGDON, Pa. – For the fourth time this season a Juniata College women's basketball player has earned Landmark Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors – only this time it isn't Ashton Bankos (York, Pa./York Catholic).
In Juniata's 77-55 win over Moravian and 71-48 lashing against Scranton, Hileman combined for 12.5 points per game, 5.5 rebounds, and five assists while draining 71-percent of her shots from the field and an outstanding 75-percent from beyond the arc.
In Friday night's game versus the Greyhounds, Hileman posted 11 points, six boards, and led the squad in assists with six. The 5'6" guard was also credited with a block.
Hileman turned around and put out a show stopping effort against the Royals Saturday afternoon with a season-high 14 points, while pulling down five rebounds and assisting four times for the Eagles. She netted 12 points in Juniata's 47-point second half against Scranton.
What's even more impressive about Hileman's performance against Scranton was her timing. Hileman provided the necessary spark to Juniata's offense at key moments in the second half to allow the Eagles to take control of the game, including two layups just seven seconds apart, with the latter occurring with harm in which she made the accompanying free throw. Her five points in just seven seconds increase Juniata's mere five point lead to a more substantial eight points with the score at 39-31 with 13 minutes left on the game clock.
Additionally, the Landmark has honored nine of the league's players thus far this season, and Hileman marks the first player to come off the bench and take the honor in a week of contests.
Juniata begins the second loop of Landmark Conference play this Friday when they travel to Drew University for a 5:30 p.m. contest on Friday. Women's hoops will then continue traveling east to the United States Merchant Marine Academy for a 2:00 p.m. game against the Mariners on Saturday.
