Smith and Robertson named to All-Landmark team
HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Juniata College softball's junior Paige Robertson (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area) and sophomore Rachel Smith (Martinsburg, Pa./Home Schooled) both earned All-Landmark Conference Second Team honors, released Monday.
Robertson and Smith finished first and second respectively on the team in batting average with Robertson logging a .357 average and Smith ending the 2012 season with a .344 batting average.
Smith broke Juniata's single season doubles record with 16 in the 2012 season, including two doubles against Penn State Berks (3/6), Drew University (3/31), and Lycoming College (4/11). She ended the season ranked fourth among the nation's leading Division III stats leaders in doubles per game. Smith also led the team in RBI with 22, nine of which came in her 4-of-5 effort that included a walk-off ninth inning grand slam against Lycoming.
Robertson played left field in all 29 games during the 2012 season and recorded 29 put outs, one assist and ended the season with a .909 fielding percentage. At the plate, Roberston chalked up 30 hits, second on the team next to Smith's 33, and batted in 14 runs while crossing the plate on 13 occasions.
Juniata College softball ended the season with a 9-20 overall record and went 1-9 in the Landmark Conference.
