HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Juniata College's senior Ceth Parker (Sabillaville, Md./Catoctin) set a new Juniata record and took first at the Jim Taylor Invitational at Susquehanna University this past weekend to earn Landmark Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week honors.
Parker finish the 5000m with a 15:01.61 time, finishing nearly 14 seconds faster than his competition and passing the previous Juniata record - 15:17.37 set by Matthew Bailey as the Paul Kaiser Classic at Shippensburg on April 24, 2010.
The time marks Parker's first no. 1 slot on Juniata's men's outdoor top five all-time records list and the fifth time he has made it into the top five on Juniata's all-time leaderboards in an outdoor event.
This is the second week of the 2012 outdoor season that Parker has earned the Landmark honor. Parker claimed the track athlete of the week nomination on March 19 for his third place finish and personal-best time of 4:01.63 in the 1500m at the Dr. Jack M. Toms Open at Lynchburg.
Juniata travels to Towson, Md. for the Goucher College Invitational on Saturday, March 7.
