Highlights and things to watch around Juniata College Athletics
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL (23-1 overall, 13-0 Landmark)
#11 in USA Today/ESPN poll / #13 in D3hoops.com poll
Juniata's undefeated conference streak looked in jeopardy during the majority of its match against Catholic University, but the Eagles managed to pull out a 55-52 win over the Cardinals Friday night to clinch the top seed for next week’s Landmark Conference Tournament. The Eagles then took away a 75-49 win over Goucher Saturday afternoon... against Catholic, Natalie Glinsky (Indiana, Pa./Indiana) netted a season high and game high 17-point performance that included the go-ahead 3-pointer with just 1:30 left on the game clock to give Juniata a 51-50 advantage. Just 11 seconds later, Glinsky grabbed a steal, drew a foul, and sunk her two foul shot opportunities to give Juniata a three-point buffer... Juniata finished the night shooting just .286 from the field and barely out-rebounding the Cardinals 40-38... junior Alyssia Gordon (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) contributed 11 points and five rebounds, while sophomore Kate McDonald (Pennsylvania Furnace, Pa./State College Area) posted 10 points and six boards... against Goucher, Meagan Raville (McSherrystown, Pa./Delone Catholic) walked away Juniata's top scorer with 17 points, while fellow senior Ashton Bankos (York, Pa./York Catholic) charted 15... sophomore Jordan Hileman (Williamsburg, Pa./Williamsburg) was the only other Eagle to reach double digits with 11 points. McDonald led the Eagles off the glass with eight rebounds, marking the 17th time this season she has been the Eagles’ leading rebounder.
