McGlaughlin, Stevens lead Eagles past Gophers on Senior Day
HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata women's lacrosse team won on Senior Day, 20-13, over Goucher, Saturday afternoon at Gibbel Stadium.
Ella McGlaughlin had a career-high seven goals with two ground balls, while Skyler Stevens tallied five goals, an assist, two ground balls, and three draw controls. Emily Kemmer totaled three goals while Elayna Stubbe had two goals and an assist. Devyn Mauger netted three goals, an assist, four ground balls, nine draw controls, and four caused turnovers. Kyra Shipley contributed two assists, four caused turnovers, and four ground balls. Caoilinn Heatly made six saves in goal, while Francesca Ditsky made one.
A back-and-forth opening quarter saw the teams even at 4-4 after one, with Stevens scoring twice, Mauger scoring once, and McGlaughlin adding one of her own.
Juniata scored the first four goals of the second quarter and overall, led 11-7 at the half.
The Gophers got within one goal at 12-11 midway through the third, but the Eagles calmly responded. The Eagles scored the final two goals of the third and first five of the fourth to lead 19-11, icing the game.
Juniata returns to action this Wednesday on the road at Lycoming College at 7:00.
