NEWARK, N.J.- The Juniata men's soccer team scored early and locked down the win against William Paterson, 1-0, Saturday afternoon in the Eastern College Athletic Conference Semifinals.
Gavin Rauhut scored the game's lone goal, while Ryan Angelone assisted it. Maxwell Mattioni made five saves in goal.
In the third minute, Angelone bent a corner from the right side into the box that Rauhut nodded into the far corner to put Juniata up early. The rest of the half saw both teams have a few chances, as Juniata had seven shots to William Paterson's four.
The Pioneers forced the Eagles to earn the clean sheet, taking eight shots in the second half, and Mattioni made four saves to secure the victory.
Juniata advances to take on Rutgers Newark in a rematch of last year's ECAC Championship. Game time is 12:00.
