MADISON, N.J.- The Juniata men's soccer team conceded late as they lost on the road to Drew University, Saturday afternoon at Ranger Field.
Jayden Gaynor scored for the Eagles with Gavin Rauhut providing the assist. Maxwell Mattioni made three saves in net.
The Rangers drew first blood less than two minutes into the contest, as they scored off a loose ball following a Mattioni save. Drew held a 6-0 advantage in shots in the first half, while the Eagles had a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks.
In the 50th minute, Rauhut launched a long throw-in from the left side that clattered off a cluster of players right in front of Gaynor. The junior from Ontario, Canada lashed his foot through the ball, sending it crashing into the net to tie things at 1-1.
The hosts found a winner in the 76th minute, as a smooth build-up saw them come crashing down the left side of the Eagle box. One of their players cut the ball back, and another Ranger curled the ball into the right corner.
Drew outshot the Eagles 11-5, while Juniata held a narrow 5-4 advantage in corners.
The Eagles currently sit in sixth place with one match to go in the regular season. They will host the Catholic University of America, in a rematch of last year's Landmark Championship, with a win ensuring a spot in the playoffs. Kickoff is at 7:00 at Gibbel Stadium.
