HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata men's soccer team lost to visiting #23 Carnegie Mellon 2-0, Wednesday evening at Gibbel Stadium.
Maxwell Mattioni made five saves in goal for the Eagles.
It was a back-and-forth first half that saw the Tartans take nine shots, and the Eagles managed five themselves. Seven minutes from the end of the first half, the visitors scored off a corner on a header at the back post.
Eight minutes into the second half, the Tartans doubled their lead as they finished off a move inside the Eagle box from 12 yards out.
Jayden Gaynor and Zachary Anagnos tested the keeper in the second half and forced two saves.
Juniata begins conference play Saturday at Moravian. Kickoff is at 3:30.
