HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Juniata and Swarthmore battled to a 1-1 draw Saturday afternoon at Gibbel Stadium.
Swarthmore struck first in the 16th minute when Henry Lin finished off a setup from Len Yamabe to give the visitors a 1-0 lead. The Eagles answered quickly, as Jayden Gaynor buried the equalizer less than three minutes later to level the match at 1-1.
Both defenses held firm the rest of the way, with neither side able to break through in the second half. Swarthmore outshot Juniata 20-9, but goalkeeper Maxwell Mattioni kept the Eagles even with five saves on the afternoon. On the other end, Swarthmore's Colin Crowe tallied four saves.
The tie moves Juniata to 4-1-1 on the season, while Swarthmore goes to 2-1-2.
The Eagles will face off with Carlow on Wednesday at home at 7:00 PM.
