News mentions
CHANDLER, Ariz.- The ZAG Field Hockey/National Field Hockey Coaches Association National Academic Squad on Thursday. The squad recognizes those student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2016-17 academic year. 13 members of the Juniata Field Hockey team were selected.
THE STORY: Juniata played host to Elizabethtown in its regular season home finale on Saturday night at Knox Stadium. The Blue Jays scored two goals just under a minute apart in the second half to break a tie and defeat the Eagles 3-1.
DOVER, DE- A day after dropping an overtime loss to Goucher, the Juniata field hockey team traveled to Delaware to take on the Wolverines of Wesley College. Sunday’s outcome was much better as the Eagles defeated Wesley by the score of 2-0.
EWING, N.J- The Juniata field hockey team faced The College of New Jersey on Saturday afternoon. It was a close 1-0 battle at the half but the Lions added three goals in the second period to pull away for the 4-0 victory.
HUNTINGDON, Pa.- With a large portion of its scoring having departed due to graduation, one would expect a drop off for the Juniata field hockey team in 2016. Top scorer and Landmark Offensive Player of the Year Sarah Bilheimer along with Alli Groft and Melissa Rutherford have all moved on. What will this year’s team look like?
