Juniata Finished Top 15 at Gettysburg, Morgan Placed Eighth Overall

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata College men's and women's cross country teams each finished top 15 at the Gettysburg Invitational Saturday afternoon.  Senior Caroline Morgan (Haverton, Pa./Haverford Township) was the Eagles top finisher at eighth overall out of 394 runners.  The women placed ninth as a team and the men finished 13^th respectively.

Morgan finished the 6K in 22:51, her fastest time of the year for the distance.  Junior Katrina Woods (Shirelsburg, Pa./Mount Union) was the Eagles second highest finisher of the day.  She crossed the line 12^th with a time of 22:58.

Rounding out the Eagles in the top 100 for the women was sophomore Alyssa Cousins (State College, Pa./State College) with a 24:47 mark.

On the men's side, four Eagles completed the 8K course within 23 seconds of each other.  Juniors Nate Alter (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) and Ryan Trexler (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) spent the race together, finishing the 8K just one second apart at 27:16 and 27:17.  The duo crossed in 69^th and 70^th place, respectively, out of a field of 389 runners. 

Sophomore Trevor Stephens (Bethesda, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) came in four seconds after the pair in 76^th place and freshman Ryan Bogdan (Buffalo, N.Y./Canisius) rounded out the Eagles in top 100, finishing 99^th in 27:40.

Juniata is picking up speed heading into a break before the Landmark Conference Championships Oct. 27.  The Eagles host this year's big race and will look for the home advantage to help propel them to their first championship since 2008 on the women's side and the first for the men since joining the Landmark Conference.
