Christy Named Landmark Athlete of the Week
TOWSON, Md.- Women's volleyball outside Kennedy Christy has been named Landmark Athlete of the Week, after she played a large part in two big victories for the Eagles to open the 2024 season.
Christy had a match-high 16 kills (.238) in the 3-1 (25-16, 21-25, 25-15, 25-12) win over #4 Johns Hopkins, to go with three assists, three digs and four blocks. She had 12 kills, eight digs and a solo block in the 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-14) win over Christopher Newport, who was receiving votes in the American Volleyball Coaches Association national poll.
The team won three matches on the weekend, also defeating William Patterson 3-0 (25-14, 26-24, 25-22), and sit at 3-0 on the year with a 65-game winning streak spanning back to 2022. They are on the precipice of tying the NCAA Division III women's volleyball winning streak of 66.
Juniata will host Ohio Northern on Friday at 7:00 in Memorial Gymnasium, where the 2023 National Championship Banner will be unveiled prior to the start of the match.
