Morrison and Greenberg earn AVCA All-America honors

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Two of Juniata College women's volleyball student-athletes were named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America teams, released Tuesday. 

Senior libero Libby Morrison (Portland, Ore./Oregon Episcopal School) earned a spot on the second team, while sophomore setter Courtney Greenberg (Fort Myers, Fla./Fort Myers) was given a third team slot.

Morrison was awarded with AVCA All-America honors for the second time, as she was a 2010 third-team selection. For the second consecutive year, Morrison was named the Landmark Conference Player and Specialist of the Year. In just two seasons at Juniata, Morrison has earned an eighth place spot on the Juniata career digs leaderboard with 1,322, as well as appearing fifth for single season digs with 691 in 135 games during the 2010 season. She was also recently named to the 2011 Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, an award only six other Eagles have received in program history. 

Greenberg, a 2011 Landmark Conference First Team selection, was named to an AVCA All-America and AVCA All-Mid-Atlantic Region team for the first time in her college career. Over the course of the season, Greenberg assisted 1,094 times in 35 matches, averaging 10.52 assists per set. Additionally, Greenberg has logged 362 digs thus far in her collegiate campaign, accompanied by 77 kills.  

The AVCA All-America teams consist of three teams of 14 players, chosen from among the players on the AVCA's eight All-Region teams. All remaining All-Region players not named to an All-America squad earn honorable mention distinction.

Juniata (27-8), runner-up of the NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship Eastern Regional, continued its conference winning tradition this season. The Eagles coasted to its 31^st consecutive conference championship going undefeated in seven Landmark Conference matches.
