Eagles finish strong at Lebanon Valley Indoor Invite

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Juniata men's and women's track and field combined for 13 top three finishes at the Lebanon Valley College Indoor Invite Saturday.  The Eagles won four events and had outstanding performances from several student-athletes.

Men's Track & Field
Junior Nate Alter (Pittsburg, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) paced the men's success on the track.  He won the 1-mile in 4:44.1 and placed fourth in the 800m, just 0.19 seconds behind sophomore Trevor Stephens (Bethesda, Md./Bethesday-Chevy Chase) at 2:10.12.

In the field, junior Justin Herr (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood) improved from last week, winning the triple jump with a 12.88m mark.  He also increased his long jump distance and placed third with 6.03m.

Women's Track & Field
Senior Angela Shaffer (Prospect, Pa./Slippery Rock) picked up two wins on the day.  She went a season-best 10.15m in the triple jump and cleared 5'4" in the high jump to win both events.  Sitting right behind Shaffer in the high jump was senior Lauren Taylor (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) who placed second after clearing a personal-best 5'0".  Shaffer also placed second in the 55m hurdles with a time of 9.09 seconds, just 0.03 behind the winner.

Sophomore Chelsey Beaver (Shamokin Dam, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) placed well in the throws and set new personal records.  She finished second in the shot put at 11.08m and claimed third with an 11.02m toss in the weight throw.

Juniata heads back to Susquehanna for the Crusader Classic on Friday, Feb. 1.  The Eagles will travel to Selinsgrove one other time before the Crusaders host the Landmark Indoor Championships in late February.
