WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Juniata College women's tennis team turned in a strong all-around performance on Wednesday, shutting out Lycoming 7-0 at Brandon Park.
The Eagles took two of three doubles matches to claim the early lead. At the top spot, Celia Navarro de Torres and Medina Yessenaliyeva secured a 6-3 win, while Nina Meadows and Katie Wagoner cruised to a 6-2 victory at No. 3. Lycoming took the No. 2 match, but Juniata carried the momentum into singles play.
In singles, Yessenaliyeva set the tone at No. 1 with a commanding 6-0, 6-1 win. Navarro de Torres followed with a 6-2, 6-0 triumph at No. 2, and Sydney Madlock earned a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 3.
Meadows, Charley Madlock, and Shveta Kalathur rounded out the sweep, with Kalathur prevailing in a third-set super tiebreak to close the match.
Juniata (9-9) returns to Landmark Conference action this weekend at home against Wilkes.
