ALTOONA, Pa. – The women's tennis team hosted conference opponent Catholic at the Summit on Saturday afternoon, losing 7-2.
In doubles play, Medina Yessenaliyeva and Celia Navarro de Torres beat their opponent 8-7 (7-5) in first doubles. Charley Madlock and Marilyn Ogof fell 4-8 in second doubles as Maggie Ackley and Shveta Kalathur dropped their match 3-8 in third doubles.
Yessenaliyeva dominated first singles winning 6-2, 6-2, but Navarro fell in a tiebreaker in the second set 4-6, 6-3, 3-6. Ackely lost 6-3, 2-6, 1-6 in third singles as Madlock dropped in third singles 6-7 (3-7), 6-7 (3-7). Ogof lost 0-6, 2-6 in fifth singles as Kalathur dropped to the Cardinal opponent 1-8 in sixth singles.
The Eagles travel to Bloomsburg tomorrow for a noon match.
