ORLANDO, Fla.- The Juniata women's tennis team opened its spring break trip at the USTA National Tennis Center on Monday morning with an 8-1 win over Belhaven.
Medina Yessenaliyeva and Celia Navarro de Torres earned a first doubles win 8-2, while Marilyn Ogof and Charley Madlock earned an 8-5 second doubles victory. Marta Celebic and Shveta Kalathur were credited with a third doubles win via a Blazers default.
Yessenaliyeva swept her first singles opponent 6-0, 6-0, while Navarro earned a second singles win 6-3, 6-3.
Madlock won in third singles 6 7 - 7 9, 6-2, and Ogof swept her opponent in fourth singles 6-0, 6-0. Celebic earned a sixth singles win via default, while Kalathur suffered Juniata's lone defeat in fifth singles 4-6, 4-6.
The Juniata women's tennis team will play again in Orlando tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. against Northwestern (Minn.).
