TOWSON, Md. - The women's tennis team traveled to Goucher Sunday morning before stopping at McDaniel in the afternoon. The Eagles lost to Goucher 9-0 and came up short 5-4 at McDaniel.
At Goucher, Maggie Ackley (Clearville, Pa. / Grier School) and Jamie Mahigel (Lewistown, Pa. / Mifflin County) lost in first doubles 8-2, Marilyn Ogof (Lake Ariel, Pa. / Western Wayne) and Lana Dumnich (Dallastown, Pa. / Dallastown Area) lost 8-1 in second doubles, and Shannon Snyder (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) and Payton Kough (Fayetteville, Pa. / Chambersburg Career Magnet) lost 8-0 in third doubles.
Ackley lost in first singles 6-0, 6-0, Mahigel lost 6-1, 6-2 in second singles, Courtney Eller (Colver, Pa. / Central Cambria) lost 6-0, 6-0 in third singles, Dumnich lost in fourth singles 6-1, 6-1, Snyder lost 6-0, 6-1 in fifth singles, and Kough lost in sixth singles 6-0, 6-0.
The Eagles then traveled to McDaniel and put up a great effort against the Terror but came up short.
Ackley and Mahigel started the Eagles off on the right foot winning 8-5 in first doubles, Eller and Dumnich won in second doubles 8-6, while Snyder and Kough lost 8-5 in third doubles.
Ackley lost in first singles 7-6, (7-5), 6-0, Mahigel won 6-1, 6-3, Ogof lost 7-5, 6-0 in third singles, Dumnich won in fourth singles 6-2, 7-5, Snyder lost in fifth singles after two tiebreakers 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-7), and Kough lost 6-0, 6-2 in sixth singles.
The Eagles host Penn State Altoona Tuesday, April 5 starting at 5:00 pm.
