Waring Selected as Women’s Tennis Landmark Athlete of the Week

TOWSON, MD- On Monday, senior women's tennis player Heather Waring (San Antonio, TX/John Jay) was named the Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week. This is her first weekly award of the season.

Waring set a new Landmark record with her 48th career doubles victory in Juniata's 9-0 win over Stevenson on Friday. She shared the previous record (47) with Meghan Lee (Goucher, 2009-13) and Katie Zien (Moravian, 2010-14). Paired with Rachel Yurchisin (Cleveland, OH/Padua Franciscan) at No. 1 doubles, the duo cruised to an 8-0 victory. Waring also topped Svetlana Widell 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles.

The Eagles are ranked third in the Landmark Tournament and will face second ranked Scranton on Wednesday. The match begins at 3 p.m.
