Phillips & Waring get doubles win as Juniata falls to Scranton, 5-1
The Juniata College women’s tennis tandem of Megan Phillips and Heather Waring produced the lone point for the Eagles, as Juniata dropped a 5-1 Landmark Conference loss to the University of Scranton on Sunday afternoon.
CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. – The Juniata College women's tennis tandem of Megan Phillips (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) and Heather Waring (San Antonio, Texas) produced the lone point for the Eagles, as Juniata dropped a 5-1 Landmark Conference loss to the University of Scranton on Sunday afternoon.
Phillips and Waring downed the Scranton duo of Stephanie Boccuzzi and Devon Cohen at no. 1 doubles, 9-7, while two other Juniata doubles teams went down to defeat.
In singles play, both Waring and Phillips dropped matches at no. 2 and no. 3 singles in three sets. The match was eventually called after the Lady Royals picked up a decisive fifth point.
Juniata (5-6, 0-1 Landmark) returns to the courts on Wednesday, April 4, when it travels to Frostburg, Md., to face Frostburg State University.
