Eagles Declaw Nittany Lions and Squash Blue Jays in Altoona
Altoona, Pa.- Juniata women's swim dominated for the second straight week, securing massive wins over Penn State Altoona with a score of 167 to 87. The domination continued with a huge win over conference opponent Elizabethtown by a score of 155 to 93.
Coltan Swarts led the way for the Eagles with four first-place finishes on the day. She bagged her first gold medal of the day in the 200-yard Medley Relay, followed by top individual finishes in the 100-yard backstroke (1:04.22) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:18.59). Another strong finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:47.44) made her a top point-getter of the day.
The 200-yard Medley Relay was dominant, putting up a time of 1:57.16 from Swarts (29.79), Lena Englerth (33.26), Danielle Cline (27.95), and Lakelynn Godfrey (26.16). They beat the next closest school, Elizabethtown College, by over three seconds.
The Eagles also picked up significant points in the distance and butterfly events, with Eleanor Smith winning the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:33.41 and the 400-yard IM in 4:59.41, as well as the winning 1000-yard free by 14 seconds. Kasey Williams swept the butterfly events, winning the 100-yard fly (1:07) and the 200-yard fly (2:36.37). Maegan Jordan added to the distance dominance with a good showing in the 1000-yard freestyle (12:15.34).
The Eagles compete next at the Landmark Conference Championships starting February 12th.
