Women’s Swimming Wraps Up Busy Day Two at Cougar Splash
Dallas, Pa. – The Juniata women's swimming & diving team stacked points across prelims and finals on Saturday at the Cougar Splash, finishing the day sixth in the team standings with 135 points. The morning opened with the 200 free relay, where the A squad of Megan Mikell, Lakelynn Godfrey, Coltan Swarts, and Dani Cline raced to fifth in 1:43.61, while the B group of Grace Finch, Delany Wetzel, Jules Varner, and Kasey Williams added more depth in 1:47.95. In the 400 IM, Eleanor Smith led the way with a third-place 4:48.77, breaking the program record in the event, joined in scoring by Abby Ortiz (10th, 5:02.25) and Maegan Jordan (15th, 5:13.23). The Eagles kept rolling in the 100 butterfly and 200 freestyle, as Kasey Williams posted a 1:05.65 in the 100 fly with Grace Finch and Miriam Struble-Hedstrom also competing, while Dani Cline (2:04.63), Lakelynn Godfrey (2:05.72), Delany Wetzel (2:06.92), MacKenzie Moore (2:10.18), Kimber Beeler, Ellie Parton, and Coltan Swarts (2:04.74 exhibition) packed the middle lanes of the 200 free. The morning session closed with the 400 medley relay, where the A relay of Coltan Swarts, Lena Englerth, Eleanor Smith, and Megan Mikell placed ninth in 4:20.56 and the B relay of Abby Ortiz, Maegan Jordan, Kasey Williams, and Jules Varner took 11th in 4:32.46.
In the evening, the Eagles added more finals swims and capped the night with a strong distance relay. In the 200 butterfly, Kasey Williams clocked 2:37.07 and Miriam Struble-Hedstrom went 3:02.97, with Abby Ortiz also swimming the event in an earlier heat. Backstroke brought a big highlight as Coltan Swarts charged to third in the 100 back in 1:01.67, while Snabu Neupane added a 1:26.09 of her own. Breaststroke depth showed in the 100 as Lena Englerth (1:15.13), Maegan Jordan (1:16.33), Norah McClain (1:16.54), and Jules Varner (1:18.98) all turned in solid times, with Kimber Beeler also racing the event. The women closed the day with two scoring 800 free relays: the A foursome of Eleanor Smith, Dani Cline, Lakelynn Godfrey, and Coltan Swarts took fifth in 8:17.75, while the B relay of Maegan Jordan, Abby Ortiz, Delany Wetzel, and Ellie Parton finished ninth in 8:38.12 to lock Juniata into sixth place heading into the final day.
