Women’s Swimming Dominates Tri-Meet at Chatham with Multiple Victories
Huntingdon, Pa. – The Juniata women's swimming team delivered a commanding performance at Saturday's tri-meet against Chatham and Moravian, earning several event victories and showing strong depth across all disciplines.
The meet opened with a 1–2 finish in the 200 medley relay, as the team of Coltan Swarts, Lena Englerth, Dani Cline, and Megan Mikell claimed first in 2:13.42, followed by Delany Wetzel, Jules Varner, Kasey Williams, and Grace Finch in 2:18.87.
Abby Ortiz led the distance group with a third-place finish in the 800 freestyle (10:21.07), while Maegan Jordan took fourth (10:36.56) and Ellie Parton placed fifth (11:18.05) to give Juniata three of the top five finishers.
The Eagles then swept the 200 freestyle, with Lakelynn Godfrey winning in 2:23.63, Eleanor Smith close behind in 2:24.08, and Kimber Beeler finishing fourth at 2:33.43. Mikell and Swarts continued that momentum, going 1–2 in the 50 backstroke with times of 31.36 and 33.54.
In breaststroke action, Englerth led a 1–2–3 Juniata sweep in the 50 breaststroke (38.75), followed by McClain (38.97) and Beeler (43.32). Williams and Jordan placed second and third in the 100 butterfly, while Finch added a strong swim in the 50 fly (33.53).
Godfrey captured another win in the 50 freestyle (29.82), and the Eagles packed the top four in the 100 freestyle, led again by Godfrey (1:05.24) with Ortiz (1:06.99), Williams (1:07.57), and Wetzel (4:59.98) also scoring valuable points.
Swarts and Mikell went 1–2 in the 100 backstroke, while Englerth and Jordan went 1–2 in the 100 breaststroke. Smith took the 400 freestyle (4:53.17) and later the 200 IM (2:41.02), with Ortiz placing second (2:43.35).
Juniata closed out the meet by sweeping the podium in the 200 freestyle relay, as the A-squad of McClain, Godfrey, Swarts, and Cline finished first in 2:00.61, with the B and C teams taking second and fifth, respectively.
