Eagles Take on Lions, Blue Jays On Senior Day
HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata women's swimming team competed in a tri-meet against Elizabethtown and Penn State Altoona on Saturday. The Eagles honored seniors Maegan Jordan and Amanda Puza before the start of the meet.
The meet began with the 200-meter medley relay, where Delany Wetzel, Norah McClain, Danielle Cline, and Juliana Varner took third with a time of 2:16.86.
In the 800-meter freestyle, Abby Ortiz placed fourth with a time of 10:38.46.
Wetzel took third place with a time of 2:28.74, followed closely by Maegan Jordan in fourth (2:29.69). Kimberlyn Beeler took sixth, clocking 2:40.79.
In the 50-meter backstroke, Cline finished fifth with a time of 36.10. Grace Finch and Snabu Neupane followed, placing sixth and seventh with times of 38.22 and 47.33, respectively.
The 50-meter breaststroke saw McClain secure sixth place with a time of 39.38, while Varner and Manali Misra finished seventh and ninth, respectively, with times of 40.94 and 43.12.
Ortiz placed fifth in the 100-meter butterfly, recording a time of 1:22.43. Puza also competed in the event, finishing seventh with a time of 1:33.29.
In the 50-meter freestyle, McClain led the Eagles with a second-place finish (30.48). Wetzel followed in fifth place (31.94), while Neupane finished eighth (40.65).
The 100-meter freestyle saw Cline and Varner take fourth and fifth places with times of 1:07.31 and 1:09.40, respectively. Finch finished seventh with a time of 1:12.38.
In the 100-meter backstroke, Jordan placed sixth with a time of 1:20.86, and Neupane finished eighth with a time of 1:41.73.
McClain placed fifth in the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:26.24, while Wetzel and Misra followed in sixth and seventh places, clocking 1:31.95 and 1:35.09, respectively.
Ortiz returned to the pool for the 400-meter freestyle, finishing first with a time of 5:06.01. Beeler and Puza also competed, finishing fifth (5:47.05) and sixth (6:02.17), respectively.
In the 50-meter butterfly, Cline delivered a second-place finish with a time of 32.02. Finch placed fourth (35.54).
Jordan and Varner competed in the 200-meter IM, placing fourth and fifth with times of 2:54.32 and 2:58.06, respectively.
The meet concluded with the 200-meter freestyle relay, where Finch, Jordan, Misra, and Ortiz placed third with a time of 2:09.95.
The Eagles return to the water February 13th for day one of the Landmark Conference Championships.
