Five Eagles Have Career Performances at Landmarks Day One

GERMANTOWN, Md. – The Swimming and Diving Landmark Championship meet began on Friday, Feb. 17 with freestyle, IM and relay events. Although none of the Eagles qualified for finals in their respective events, two recorded season bests and five marked career bests in the preliminary events.

Emily Angeline (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) and Jocelyn Skelly (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) each set career bests at the 2016 Landmark Championships. This year, both Angeline and Skelly set a season best in their respective events. In the 500 Free, Angeline finished 29th overall with her 6:10.13 time. Skelly then marked a season best 26.81 time in the 50 Free, ending just .6 seconds behind the qualifying members.

Kerry McClaughry (Somerville, N.J./Somerville) also competed in the 500 Free, finishing in 27th place with a time of 6:00.67. Her mark is the best in the freshman's early career.

Elise Kury (Willow Street, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg), Maiya Mastovich (Johnstown, Pa./Westmont Hilltop) and Emily Stahl (State College, Pa./State College Area) each had career performances in the 50 Free. Kury, the only senior on this year's team, shaved nearly three seconds off of her previous career best and recorded a new career best 29.33 time in the event. Mastovich's career performance ended with a time of 28.80, shattering her times this season and finishing one second faster than she did at the 2016 Landmarks. Stahl's times have improved throughout the season in the 50 Free and she ended it with a 28.22 mark.

Freshman Meghan Brubaker (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) also marked her career best in the 200 IM with a time of 2:32.59. She finished just four spots out of qualifying for the finals.
