Emma Coolidge Goes 6-for-7 to Lead Juniata Against Susquehanna
Huntingdon, Pa. – Juniata women's basketball battled for four quarters against Landmark Conference contender Susquehanna on Wednesday evening but came up short in an 80–49 decision at Memorial Gymnasium.
The Eagles opened the game with strong energy on both ends, trading leads early in the first quarter before Susquehanna edged ahead 23–17. Juniata continued to compete defensively, forcing turnovers and limiting second looks, but the River Hawks pulled ahead in the second quarter to take a 41–23 lead at the break.
Juniata responded with its most complete stretch of the night coming out of halftime. The Eagles outscored Susquehanna 18–16 in the third quarter, cutting into the deficit behind efficient shooting and improved ball movement. Emma Coolidge was especially effective inside, finishing 6-for-7 from the floor, while Laney Gerdich controlled the paint on both ends during the run.
Bri Bodtorf led Juniata with an all-around performance, posting 14 points, six rebounds, four assists, and a game-high six steals. Coolidge added 12 points and six rebounds, and Gerdich finished with 10 points, four rebounds, and a blocked shot. Defensively, Juniata forced 14 turnovers and generated 15 points off those miscues.
Despite the strong third-quarter push, Susquehanna regained separation in the final period with timely shooting and rebounding, ultimately sealing the outcome.
Juniata will look to build on this matchup when they travel to Scranton on Saturday.
