Huntingdon, Pa. – The Juniata women's basketball team earned its first win of the 2025–26 season on Saturday afternoon, holding off Westminster for a 56–50 victory in a tightly contested nonconference matchup.
The Eagles and Titans were knotted at 13–13 after the opening quarter, but Juniata began to create separation in the second period. Behind steady offense and control of the glass, Juniata outscored Westminster 15–10 in the quarter to take a 28–23 lead into halftime.
Juniata maintained its edge coming out of the break, matching Westminster point-for-point early before extending the margin with a 16–14 third quarter to lead 44–37 entering the final 10 minutes. Westminster trimmed the deficit late and cut the lead to five in the closing seconds, but clutch free throws sealed the win for the Eagles.
Emily McCann led Juniata with 11 points, knocking down a pair of three-pointers and hitting key free throws in the final moments. Olivia Berg added 10 points, while Bri Bodtorf chipped in 10 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks to anchor the defense.
Juniata dominated the glass with a 52–39 rebounding advantage and held Westminster to just 31.8 percent shooting from the field. The Eagles also spent over 29 minutes playing with the lead and converted 12 free throws, compared to just two for the Titans.
Juniata will head into Christmas break with their first win of the season before facing off with Chatham at home on December 30th.
