Drew Slips Past Juniata, 56–49 in Landmark Action
Huntingdon, Pa. – Juniata women's basketball battled Drew throughout four quarters but came up short, falling 56–49 in Landmark Conference action on Saturday afternoon inside Memorial Gymnasium.
Drew opened the game with a 16–14 first-quarter edge before holding Juniata to eight points in the second to take a 33–22 lead into halftime. The Eagles responded with their strongest stretch in the third quarter, outscoring Drew 17–12 to trim the deficit to six heading into the final period, but the Rangers held on with an 11–10 fourth quarter to secure the win.
Bri Bodtorf led all scorers with 20 points to go along with 10 rebounds and five assists in a full 40-minute effort. Laney Gerdich added 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting, while Emma Coolidge dominated the glass with a game-high 14 rebounds to go along with four points and a steal. Olivia Berg chipped in seven points, two assists, and a block, while Emily McCann pulled down nine rebounds and dished out two assists.
Juniata finished the game shooting 37.0 percent (20-of-54) from the field but struggled from beyond the arc, hitting just 1-of-17 (5.9%). The Eagles made 8-of-11 attempts at the free-throw line and held a 47–25 rebounding advantage, including 14 offensive boards, but were hurt by 26 turnovers that led to transition opportunities for Drew.
The Rangers shot 39.6 percent from the floor and connected on 6-of-14 from three-point range.
Juniata drops to 0–5 (0–2) on the season and in Landmark play, while Drew improves to 3–2 (1–1).
