Bodtorf’s 18 Points, Coolidge’s Double-Digit Rebounding Lead Juniata in Season Opener
Westminster, Md. – Juniata women's basketball dropped its season opener 72–55 to Misericordia on Friday night at Memorial Gymnasium.
Despite out-rebounding the Cougars 53–44 and pulling down 17 offensive boards, the Eagles struggled to find rhythm offensively, shooting 28.1 percent from the field while committing 22 turnovers. Misericordia capitalized on those miscues, turning them into 20 points off turnovers and 18 fast-break points.
Bri Bodtorf led Juniata with 18 points, eight rebounds, and five assists in an all-around effort. Emma Coolidge added seven points and a team-high 15 rebounds, while Cate Clarke chipped in seven points on 3-of-5 shooting. Leah Skweres and Olivia Berg each hit from beyond the arc, with Skweres finishing with six points and seven rebounds.
Juniata showed strength on the glass, outscoring Misericordia 18–6 in second-chance points, but the Cougars' balanced attack and 40-percent shooting from three-point range proved decisive.
With the loss, Juniata moves to 0–1 and will look to bounce back in its next matchup tomorrow afternoon against Stevenson.
