Eagles Dethrone Monarchs, Stung by Hornets on Day Two of Margie Knight Softball Classic

SALISBURY, Md.- The Juniata softball team completed day two of the Margie Knight Softball Classic with a 4-1 win over King's College and a 6-1 loss to the University of Lynchburg Saturday afternoon.
Cailee Barnett plated Dani Berlin in the second inning to get the Eagles on the board against King's.
Ashley Robuck's RBI-double to left scored Eva Johnson, and later Claire Thomas drove Robuck home with an RBI-single to center as Juniata led 3-0 through three.
King's got one back in the fifth, before Thomas smacked an RBI-double to left to make it 4-1 Juniata in the seventh to complete the scoring.
Thomas was 3-4 with a double and two RBI, while Johnson went 2-3 with two runs scored. Robuck was 1-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
Cheyenne Silvis got the win and went the distance, throwing seven innings while allowing one run on five hits with two strikeouts.
In game two, the Hornets scored twice in the first and three more in the second as JC faced a five-run deficit.
Lynchburg added a sixth run in the fifth, scoring on a passed ball.
Barnett led off the bottom half of the fifth with a single to left, and Lexi Roush followed with an infield single. Morgan Fraker advanced both runners with a groundout to first, and Johnson scored Barnett with her groundout to first.
Juniata will play their first home series this Tuesday against Washington and Jefferson, with first pitch of game one at 3:00.
