Eagles Split on Day One of the Margie Knight Softball Classic

SALISBURY, Md.- The Juniata softball team won 12-0 in five innings over SUNY New Paltz and lost 12-5 to Muhlenberg on day one of the Margie Knight Softball Classic Friday.
In the game against the Mules, Muhlenberg's bats got hot first as they scored one run in the first, two in the third, and six in the fourth to go up 9-0.
In the fifth, Cailee Barnett was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, Ashley Robuck drove in Chelsea Williams with a fielder's choice, and later Eva Johnson's groundout to third scored Williams to make it 9-3.
Grace Hensch and Amanda Townley each had RBI-singles in the sixth to bring the Eagles within four, but Muhlenberg scored three in the seventh to complete the scoring.
Against SUNY New Paltz, the Eagles had five players drive in two runs, with Claire Thomas, Hensch, Townley, Brooklynn Walker, and Robuck each doing damage at the plate.
Thomas was 3-3 with two runs scored and a walk, while Hensch was 3-4 with two runs scored.
Cheyenne Silvis got the win, allowing five hits in five innings with two strikeouts and a walk.
Juniata is back at it tomorrow, playing King's at 11:00am and Lynchburg at 1:30.
