Bats Awaken Against Mount Aloysius in Softball’s 12-2 Victory

CRESSON, PA- Juniata softball broke out of its slump in the second game of a doubleheader as the offense put up 12 runs in a 12-2 win over Mount Aloysius on Tuesday afternoon. It was the second-most runs that the Eagles have scored all season.

Softball Edged Out by Scranton

HUNTINGDON, PA- The Juniata softball team hosted Scranton in a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at West End Field. The Royals had two big innings in each game to sweep the Eagles. Scranton improves its record to 9-6 overall and 3-1 in the Landmark Conference. Juniata drops to 6-18 overall and 2-6 in the Landmark.

Eagles Get Strong Pitching but Fall Against Dickinson

HUNTINGDON, PA- The Juniata softball team got to the bottom of the seventh in both games of a doubleheader down by a run but could not complete the rallies on Thursday afternoon at West End Field. The Eagles dropped 5-4 and 4-3 decisions.

Softball Falls to Elizabethtown

ELIZABETHTOWN, PA- Holly Bettinger (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) hit a grand slam to give Juniata a 6-4 lead in the seventh inning but host Elizabethtown responded with three runs to win 7-6 on Saturday afternoon. It was Bettinger’s first grand slam of her career.

Eagles Split with Pitt-Greensburg

HUNTINGDON, PA- Chrisi Lerchen (Annville, PA/Annville-Cleona) pitched her second career shutout and Holy Bettinger (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) slammed a three-run homerun in the fifth inning as the Juniata softball team defeated Pitt-Greensburg 4-1 in the first game of a doubleheader on Thursday afternoon at West End Field. Lerchen gave up only four hits and two walks. She struck out one batter.

Softball Drops Doubleheader to Susquehanna

SELINSGROVE, PA- The Juniata softball team traveled to Selinsgrove to play Susquehanna in Landmark Conference play on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles fell by the scores of 9-1 and 3-0. The losses drop Juniata’s record to 5-11 overall and 2-2 in the conference. The Crusaders improve to 11-4 and 4-0 in the Landmark.

HUNTINGDON, PA- Chrisi Lerchen (Annville, PA/Annville-Cleona) pitched her first collegiate shutout in Game 1 and Holly Bettinger (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) gave up only three hits in Game 2 as the Juniata softball team swept Drew on Saturday afternoon at West End Field. The Eagles won by the scores of 6-0 and 8-5.

LATROBE, PA- Juniata softball played St. Vincent College in a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday. The Eagles lost 7-3 and 4-1.

Paige Dennison went 3-for-8 with a home run, double, one run scored, and four RBIs against the Royals.
Juniata Softball Drops Doubleheader to Eastern Mennonite

HUNTINGDON, PA- The Juniata softball team hosted its first doubleheader of the season on Wednesday afternoon at West End Field. The results did not go the Eagles’ way as they fell 13-5 and 13-7 to Eastern Mennonite.

CLERMONT, FL- The Juniata softball team received quality pitching in both of their games on Friday but did not get the run support it needed as it fell 4-3 and 6-5. The losses drop the team’s record to 3-5 overall.

Softball Drops Doubleheader

WINTER GARDEN, FL- Juniata softball dropped a pair of games on Wednesday. In game 1, the Eagles lost an eight inning battle to Roger Williams, 7-5. Game 2 went to Emerson, 16-8 in five innings.

Bettinger’s Two-Run Triple Lifts Softball to Victory over Mount Ida

CLERMONT, FL- Holly Bettinger (Hummelstown, PA/Lowe Dauphin) hit a two- run triple in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Juniata softball team defeated Mount Ida 5-4 on Monday. The Eagles trailed 4-1 and scored four runs to come away with the win.

Softball Opens Season With A Split

CLERMONT, FL- The Juniata softball team began its 2015 season with a pair of games in Florida. The Eagles dropped their first contest 8-0 to St. Mary’s (Ind.) but rebounded in the second to defeat Fitchburg State 13-5.

HUNTINGDON, PA – Juniata College softball is holding four pitching clinics and one hitting session this winter. Both clinics are for grades 4-12 and offer a chance to learn from Eagle pitchers and coaches during their offseason. This is the third year of the pitching clinics and the second for the hitting session.
