Juniata Finishes Fourth at Lock Haven Invitational
Lock Haven, Pa. - Juniata's men's cross country team finished fourth out of 15 schools at the Lock Haven Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 24. Conor Dimond, Nicholas Simpson and Petro Sokirniy were the first three Eagles to complete the 8k race.
Lock Haven, Pa. - Juniata's men's cross country team finished fourth out of 15 schools at the Lock Haven Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 24. Conor Dimond (Summerhill, Pa./Forest Hills), Nicholas Simpson (Silver Spring, Md./Albert Einstein) and Petro Sokirniy (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Upper Moreland) were the first three Eagles to complete the 8k race.
Dimond finished 12th out of the 202 contestants with a time of 26:12.60, thirty seconds faster than his personal best. Before the 2016 Lock Haven Invitational, he held a personal best of 26:32.1, set at the 2015 Lock Haven Invitational.
Simpson finished with a time of 26:51.40, putting him at 31st in the race. Sokirniy was just one contestant behind Simpson, finishing 33rd with a time of 27:01.30. Sokriniy also surpassed his personal best set at the 2014 Lock Haven Invitational (27:29.4).
Freshmen Desmond O'Donovan (Philadelphia, Pa./Science Leadership Academy) and Evan Ulrich (Homer, N.Y./Homer Senior High) were part of the top five Eagles to finish. O'Donovan finished 41st with a time of 27:21.10. Ulrich was just seconds behind (27:29.8), placing 47th.
Next up for the men's cross country team is DeSales Invitational on Oct. 8th.
