BUFFALO, N.Y.- The #2 Juniata men's volleyball team brushed aside #18 Buffalo State 3-0, Friday evening at Sports Arena.
Felix Baier led the way with 11 kills (.455), two aces, four digs and a solo block. Chris Mellor tallied five kills (.714), a solo block and a block assist. Tyler Phillips added six kills (.500), an ace, five digs, and two blocks. Octavian Sperry contributed six kills (.417), an assist, two aces, and a block.
The opening set was a tightly contested one, with the Bengals pulling even at 20-20. A 5-2 run earned the Eagles a set one win, 25-22, as Sperry put down the set's final kill.
Juniata dominated set two. With the score at 12-6 the Eagles scored 13 of the final 17 points to claim the set 25-10. The Eagles hit .667 in the set.
The Eagles kept the Bengals at bay in the third, maintaining a four-point lead for the back half of the set. With the score at 20-16, kills from Sperry, Mellor and Dante Palombo along with a pair of Bengal errors ended the match 25-18.
Juniata will play Mount Aloysius (1:00) and Nazareth (3:00) tomorrow.
