UNION, N.J.- The #3 Juniata men's volleyball team picked up a 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-21) Saturday afternoon on day two of the Kean Clash.
Will Sierer totaled 27 assists, five digs, three aces, and two block assists, while Felix Baier had eight kills (.316) with a dig. Dante Palombo had five kills, an ace, a dig, and a block assist.
In the first set, the Bearcats held a narrow 13-15 lead midway through. A 6-0 run spearheaded by a pair of Baier kills had Juniata ahead 19-15. With the score at 22-18, a kill of Robbins and a Sierer ace pushed the Eagles to set point before Tyler Phillips ended it with a kill of his own.
The Eagle offense was ruthless in the second set, hitting .714 and taking an early lead that they never relinquished. The Eagles took set two on a service error, 25-17.
Set three was seesaw with the Eagles taking the lead and the Bearcats continuously clawing back, with them eventually tying things again at 19-19. A 6-2 blitz by the Eagles, with the final kills of the day from David Dziekonski and Baier ended the match 25-21.
The Eagles will play at Messiah, Friday at 7:00.
