Men's Volleyball Earns At-Large Bid to NCAA Tournament
INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The Juniata men's volleyball team has been selected to compete in the 2025 NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball Championship. The Eagles will face the Wentworth Institute of Technology in the second round on Friday, April 18. The opening rounds will be hosted by Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, N.J.
Fourteen conferences received automatic qualification to the 2025 championship, while five at-large bids were awarded to non-champion programs from automatic-qualifying conferences or to independent institutions.
Juniata earned one of the five at-large bids after falling to No. 1 Southern Virginia in the championship match of the Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) Tournament.
In their second-round matchup, Juniata will face Wentworth, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) champion. Wentworth enters the tournament with a 26-6 record and has recorded ranked wins over No. 9 Hobart, No. 13 Nichols, and No. 17 Lasell.
Juniata is 3-1 all-time against Wentworth, most recently earning a four-set victory in 2023.
The winner of the Juniata-Wentworth match will advance to face either Stevens or the winner of the first-round matchup between Nichols and Randolph-Macon.
Stevens earned an automatic berth after claiming the MAC Championship over Messiah University. The Ducks are 25-4 overall and finished 8-0 in conference play. Juniata swept Stevens 3-0 earlier this season.
This marks the Eagles' sixth appearance in the NCAA Tournament and their second selection via at-large bid. Juniata previously qualified by winning the CVC Tournament in 2013, 2014, 2017, 2023, and 2024—making this their third time earning back-to-back tournament berths.
Juniata holds a 5-5 all-time record in the NCAA Tournament, with their best performance coming in 2014 when they advanced to the national championship match. Last season, the Eagles reached the quarterfinals before falling to Stevens in four sets.
