HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Juniata College men's volleyball retained its No. 1 ranking in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Poll Tuesday. This is the Eagles second consecutive week at the top spot and third time this season.
"Knowing most of the coaches that have seen us play think and believe that we are one of the better teams in the country is a great honor," said head coach Pat Shawaryn. "But we've still got work to do. We can't afford a setback. We just have to keep grinding through it."
The top five teams from last week each held onto their spots. Juniata picked up seven first place votes and edged out No. 2 Springfield College at 185-182 in total points. No. 3 SUNY New Paltz rounded out the top three with 173 points and two first place votes of its own. No. 4 Carthage and No. 5 MIT earned 154 and 138 points, respectively.
Carthage is the only other Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) programs in the top 10. Juniata returns to competition this weekend down in Virginia for back-to-back conference matches. They first head to Eastern Mennonite on Friday, March 21 before taking on Marymount on Saturday, March 22. Both matches begin at 7 p.m. and will have live stats available.
