HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata College men's volleyball team has moved back into the No. 1 spot on the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll, the organization announced Tuesday. "It's a nice honor," said head coach Pat Shawaryn. "It's what coaches respect and believe your program is. At the end of the day, the only thing that really matters is what you do at the end of the season. That's what everyone is here for. We still have a lot of work to do to prove that we are that team."
Juniata (17-3) has won eight of its last nine matches and is 6-1 against top 15 teams this season. The Eagles have given up just three sets in their last three matches. And they are top 20 nationally in six different team categories including second in blocks per set and win percentage.
Previous No. 1 SUNY New Paltz dropped to third in the poll receiving two first place votes and 172 points. Carthage and MIT round out the top five at No. 4 and No. 5 with 148 and 135 points, respectively.
