Lewis Secures School Record at Coach I Invite
Lancaster, Pa. – The Juniata men's track and field team opened competition at the Coach I Invite on Saturday, Jan. 24, with a full slate of performances across the sprints, mid-distance events, distance races, relays, and field events.
The Eagles were active early in the 60-meter prelims, led by Isaiah Huffstutler, who posted a time of 7.23. Freshmen made strong debuts in the event as Creig Jr. Bell (7.40), Mari Ewart (7.52), Akari Daniels (7.60), and Joey McGowan (7.87) each recorded personal bests, while Evan Downs and Ade Adedoyin rounded out the sprint group.
In the 200 meters, Colson Lewis paced Juniata with a 22.80 good for a new School Record, followed by a personal-record effort from Parker Thomas (24.14). Huffstutler (24.27), Bell (24.69 PR), Dalton Yohn (24.86 SB), and Gavin Robb (25.07) added depth for the Eagles, while Daniels, McGowan, Downs, Braden Barrick, Kaelano Kelly, and Adejayan all logged PR performances.
Djemba Ndikwe led the way in the 400 meters, finishing in 52.99, with Caleb Massare close behind at 53.96. Yohn added a 54.95, and Shane Smith completed the event in 1:00.83. Smith also competed in the 800 meters, clocking a 2:19.15.
In the distance events, Roy Henderson ran a 10:28.12 in the 3000 meters, while Cj Coffey (16:48.98) and Adam Gallo (17:02.36) represented Juniata in the 5000 meters.
Juniata posted solid results in the field events as well. Jake Alexander recorded a personal-best leap of 5.61 meters in the long jump, and Massare added a 5.48-meter effort. In the pole vault, Robb cleared a personal-best 4.09 meters, while McGowan, Kelly, and Alexander each set PRs.
Spencer Siegel highlighted the throws with a personal-best mark of 14.90 meters in the shot put, placing among the top finishers, while Logan Hackenberg and Talbot Reed-Jaquay contributed in both the shot put and weight throw.
The day concluded with the 4x400-meter relay, where the Juniata 'A' squad of Josh Wilson, Parker Thomas, Colson Lewis, and Jake Alexander finished in 3:56.00, while the 'B' team followed with a 4:02.68.
