Lewis and Walters Each Earn Two Landmark All-Conference Selections
TOWSON, Md.- Following strong performances from both student-athletes at this weekend's Landmark Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, sprinter Colson Lewis and thrower Barrett Walters each earned a pair of Landmark Conference All-Conference team spots.
Lewis earned first-team honors for his event win in the 200 meters, while a silver in the 100 meters means he is second team in that event. Lewis set a new personal best time as he earned the 200-meter win with a time of 21.85. His previous best time was 22.17, set at the Westminster Invitational last April. He is now 0.08 seconds off the program record of 21.77 set by Randy Anderson at the 2005 MAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. In the 100 meters, he claimed second place with a time of 10.83. Earlier this year, he set a 10.77 at the Shippensburg Mid-Week Meet, which is the program's second-best time.
Walters placed on the second team after earning silver in the hammer throw and earned an honorable mention selection after placing third in the javelin throw. He finished second in the hammer throw with a mark of 48.79 meters and third in the javelin throw with a mark of 47.35 meters. It's his second straight second-team appearance in the hammer throw and his third consecutive all-conference javelin throw selection.Earlier this season, he set the Landmark Conference Hammer Throw record with a 51.55 meter throw at the Shippensburg Mid-Week Meet in April.
The Juniata men's track and field team achieved their third consecutive sixth-place finish and earned 51.5 points at the Landmark Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships. This is a 3.5-point improvement from the team's 47 last year and the third straight season with a year-on-year points improvement.
