ALTOONA, Pa. – The men's tennis team won 7-2 on the road against Penn State Altoona on Wednesday afternoon.
Ilia Buralkin (Moscow, Russia) and Utsav Dhir Deravariya (India / Sunway University) won 8-4 at first doubles, while William Michelson (Old Mystic, Conn. / Stonington) and Seth Strawser (Richfield, Pa. / East Juniata HS) won 8-1 in second doubles, and Nate Whelan (Point Pleasant Beach, Nj / Point Pleasant Beach High School) and Keisuke Maeda (Tokyo, Japan / Nihon University) won 8-6 in third doubles to blank the Nittany Lions in the doubles matches.
In singles play, Buralkin won 6-3, 6-1 in first singles, Michelson won 6-2, 6-1 in second singles, Whelan won in fifth singles 6-4, 6-0, and Deravariya won in sixth singles 6-3, 6-1. Strawser lost in a tiebreaker 7(7)-6(2), 6-3, 10-5 in third singles, while Maeda lost in fourth singles 6-2, 6-2.
The Eagles are set to host Mt. Aloysius this Friday, October 2, at 4:00 pm at home.
