TOWSON, Md. – Sophomore Logan Moore (Chadds Ford, Pa./Unionville) of the Juniata College men's tennis team was named Landmark Conference Player of the Week the league announced this afternoon. Moore was undefeated over spring break at the No. 5 singles position and earned two wins in doubles with partner freshman Dean Polisena (Adelaide, Australia/Saint Ignatius) who earned player of the week honors last week.
"Logan played great all week," said head coach Jason Cohen. "Our strength for this team is going to be the middle to the bottom of our lineup and he plays a big part in that. Besides his first set loss at Catholic where he got off to a bad start, I don't think he lost more than one game in a set all week and that's pretty hard to do no matter where you are playing in the lineup. He played with good consistency and was able to regain his focus even after a loss at No. 1 doubles and go out and play good singles tennis and help the team."
Over the five singles matches, Moore only dropped 15 games defeating his opponents by a combined score of 64-15. In his match against Catholic, Moore came back after losing the first set 4-6 to win sets two and three 6-1 and clinch the victory for the team for a 1-0 conference record.
Juniata will play in Kings Point, N.Y. this weekend when it continues Landmark play at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. The Eagles will open the home season Monday, March 24, at 3:30 p.m. when they host Lycoming College.
