Men's Soccer to Face-Off Against the University of Scranton Thursday at 7:00 in the Landmark Conference Semifinals

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The #1 seeded Juniata men's soccer team will host the #4 seeded University Scranton in the Landmark Conference Semifinals this Thursday at 7:00 pm at Gibbel Stadium. 

Tickets for the game cost $10 for adults (18+) and $5 for minors (ages 10-17). Landmark Conference students, faculty, and staff can enter free with their campus ID. Tickets may be purchased online through Hometown Ticketing (click here), but you may also pay at the venue with cash.  

The Juniata men's soccer team went unbeaten in conference play, winning seven contests and drawing two. Juniata won the regular season matchup with Scranton, two to zero. The Eagles scored a pair of second half goals as Jase Colino scored off a Brandon Marzula assist, and Jalen Holliday scored on a breakaway. 

The Royals earned the #4 seed in the in the tournament after going 5-2-2 in conference play, which saw them host #5 Lycoming College in the quarterfinals on Tuesday evening. They won 2-1 via shootout, as all four Royals converted their pk's with two of Lycoming's missing the mark. 

Juniata was the highest-scoring team in the conference, scoring 38 goals on the season, and had the second-stingiest defense, conceding 16. Scranton checks in having allowed 13 goals so far this season, with goalkeeper Charlie Smith notching eight shutouts so far this season. Maxwell Mattioni had five for JC.  

The Juniata attack is led by first-year Shawn Tanaka who is third in the Landmark Conference in goals with nine and points with 21. Scranton's Ciaran Corr is fifth in points (19) and fourth in goals (8). Gavin Rauhut is second in assists with seven, while Brandon Marzula is tied for third with six. 

This is Juniata's first trip to the Landmark Conference postseason since 2013, while Scranton returns after a one-year hiatus. They made the postseason and won the Landmark Conference Championship in 2022. 

The winner will advance to the Landmark Conference Championship on Saturday.
