SELINSGROVE, Pa.- The Juniata men's soccer team scored three second-half goals to top Susquehanna University, 3-0, and clinched a home playoff game in the Landmark Conference playoffs.
Jase Colino, Jalen Holliday, and Gavin Rauhut each scored once, while Brandon Marzula and Ryan Angelone each had an assist. Maxwell Mattioni made three saves as he and the defense earned their fourth conference shutout of the year.
The game was tied 0-0 at the half, with Juniata holding a 7-2 advantage in shots.
Ten minutes into the second half, Marzula played a ball over the defense to Colino. He let the ball bounce once before chipping it over the onrushing keeper to put Juniata ahead for his fifth goal of the season.
In the 64th minute, Holliday latched onto a through ball from Jayden Gaynor, took a touch, and calmly slotted the ball into the left corner for his fifth goal of the year.
Angelone played in a corner in the 79th minute that Rauhut rose above his defender at the back post and headed home to complete the scoring.
With the win, Juniata ensures they will host a Landmark Conference playoff game, the first time hosting one in program history. The Eagles won on the road on their way to the conference championship at Susquehanna back in 2013.
The Eagles still have plenty to play for. A win Saturday would secure the number one overall seed and a bye into the semifinals.
They will host Moravian on Saturday at 3:30, on Senior Day.
