SELINSGROVE, Pa.- The Juniata men's lacrosse team lost on the road to Susquehanna, 19-7, Wednesday evening at Sassafras Field.
Brayden Yeager totaled two goals and an assist, while Sterling Bechler scored twice with two ground balls and caused turnover. Zane Kromer added a goal and an assist while Liam Walsh and Jahmir Barber each scored once, while Dontez Porter added one assist. Griffin Umstead made 14 saves in goal for the Eagles.
SU struck first, scoring four minutes into the game, and added three more over the next four minutes. Bechler got one back for the Eagles midway through the quarter. The River Hawks scored with just over four minutes remaining, Porter setup Walsh for a goal. SU scored the final goal of the quarter and led 5-2.
SU added to their lead, scoring four in the second and Juniata trailed 9-2 at the half.
Becher scored off a Kromer pass to open the third less than a minute into the third. SU tallied the next four goals, before the Eagles scored three of the next four goals. Yeager struck twice, on either side of a SU goal, and Barber added the other as Juniata cut the deficit to eight at 14-6.
The River Hawks scored the next five goals over the third and into the fourth quarter. Kromer scored off a Yeager assist in the final minute of the contest.
Juniata will return to action on the road at Goucher, Saturday at one.
