S. Bechler Breaks Program Record for Points in a Season at Lycoming
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.- The Juniata men's lacrosse team couldn't rebound from a slow start, losing on the road to Lycoming College, 14-6, Wednesday evening at UPMC Field.
Sterling Bechler tallied four goals, as he smashed the program's single-season points record, previously held by Aiden Duran '23 and Jack Loucks. Reuben Stoll had two goals, an assist, five ground balls, and four caused turnovers. Vincent Bechler added two assists with four ground balls, while Noah Harrison had nine ground balls. Ryan Madison totaled 14 saves.
The Warriors blanked the Eagles in the first, leading 4-0 after the opening quarter.
Midway through the second while a man up, the Bechler brothers combined for a goal as Vincent found Sterling to get the Eagles on the board. The Warriors struck three more times in the final three and a half minutes of the half, as Juniata faced a six-goal deficit at the half.
Both teams scored four times in the third, with Stoll and S. Bechler scoring twice for JC. Juniata trailed by six heading into the final quarter.
Lycoming scored the first three goals of the fourth, and S. Bechler scored his fourth and the game's final goal with just under five to go in the contest.
The Warriors outshot Juniata 56-36 in the contest.
Juniata will travel to take on Catholic University on Saturday at 1:00.
