Titans Tackle Eagles
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.- The Juniata men's basketball team lost on the road at Westminster College, 76-63, Tuesday evening.
Ty Kocak totaled 18 points, eight rebounds, two assists, two steals, and a block while Ayden Hurley netted 17 points, two rebounds, and an assist.
The Titans scored the opening five points of the game, before Noah Bailey rattled home a three off a Kocak pass. A Tre Yawn foul shots and a Hurley three had the Eagles within nine, 16-7.
Melchizedek Jonah scored inside, the Titans went one for two at the line, and William Little Jr. drilled a three-pointer off Hurley's pass. Yawn found Hurley for his second three of the game as the Eagles cut the deficit to two, 17-15.
Later, a Yawn layup and another Hurley triple made it 29-27 with just under three to go in the half.
Kocak went the length of the court and finished at the rim to make it 36-31 at halftime.
The Titans fended off the Eagles' attempts in the second half, as Juniata cut the deficit to five points twice, but the hosts managed to see the game out.
Westminster had a 40-20 advantage in points in the paint, while the Eagle bench gave them a boost with 32 points to the Titans' 10.
Juniata will look to get back in the win column at home against Alfred State, Saturday at 2:00.
