BROCKPORT, N.Y.- The Juniata field hockey team lost a high-scoring 4-3 game on the road at SUNY Brockport, Sunday afternoon.
Jane Corbin, Sophia Ganley and Mackenzie Long each scored once for the Eagles, while Ganley and Cassie Lease provided one assist apiece. Kara Stringfellow made 11 saves in goal for the Eagles.
The Golden Eagles broke through first in the ninth minute.
Midway through the second quarter, Corbin pushed a loose ball at the back post across the line to tie the game at one.
The teams were tied at one at halftime.
In the latter half of the third quarter, Lease played in a penalty corner to Ganley who lofted the ball over everyone and into the top right corner to give JC a 2-1 lead.
The Golden eagles responded with three goals over the next eight minutes to go up 4-2, early in the fourth.
Ganley assisted Long in the final five minutes of the game, but Juniata couldn't find a winner.
Brockport had a 21-6 advantage in shots and a 16-5 edge in penalty corners.
Juniata will travel to take on Washington and Jefferson, Wednesday at 7:00.
